While the GTZ club was “started” on January 5th 2009, it’s coming into existence was most certainly not an overnight thing. The GTZ was the result of the efforts of several ambitious individuals with the common goal of forming a car group that included the very best from Nissan/Infiniti… the iconic 350z, the luxuriously sporty Infiniti G35 and G37s and the car that puts all cars within (and many that are far above) its price range to shame… the Nissan GT-R.
The United Arab Emirates is carving a name in the world for its high standard of living. Whenever people hear of the country, their first images are of iconic structures and fast cars on a backdrop of sandy beaches and perfectly laid out tarmac. However, what people do not realize that because the UAE has many different nationalities it sometimes gets a little difficult to meet random people. Yet these individuals took on the challenge and with nothing but their passion for cars, they introduced more and more people to the idea of starting a social car club that would include the G, GT-R and the Z. Once they had a modest number of people interested, the founder Lotfi Aichour with the help of the co-founders of this club organised a meet and initial photo shoot in the beach parking lot of Jumeira Beach Residence, a very affluent and popular area in Dubai.
Starting with an initial group of about 20 members, the group’s collective enthusiasm fuelled everyone involved to promote the car club to potential members all over the UAE. The club’s members increased exponentially and the club’s presence spread and grew quickly. People were attracted to the idea behind the club, yet the difference with this club is that those who joined the club, stayed involved in the club.
People of all types of nationalities are involved with the club, each bringing with them their own unique perspective to any discussion. So whether you are talking about cars or sports or economy or whatever it may be, you always end up learning something interesting in this club.
People join this club to meet other “motorheads”, those who love nothing more than the smell of high-octane petrol, burnt rubber and the sound of a powerful engine. However, what people find in this club is more than just a group of motorheads. They find members that become mentors and friends even outside of the world of motorsport.
So for those who decide to join the GTZ club, congratulations and welcome!
